Importance of Face to Face Interviews to the Organization

 



There are ample of Interview methods practiced in a various organization around the world, however, Face to Face (F2F) Interviews are generally the final stage of the Job interview. 


F2F Interviews are efficient method of collection of high-quality data’s in-depth about Interviewees (Loosveldt, 2008)


According to Armstrong M (2006), The main objective to conduct a F2F interviews method is to evaluating evidence about the capabilities of an Interviewee in relation to the competency, attitudes , experiences & personnel characteristics, these fundamental tools will help the employer to make a decision whether interviewee is “fit” to the organization.

The nature of F2F interviews methods don’t have to be stressful,  The employer wants to impress the Interviewee and vice versa, eventually the F2F interview to be user friendly (Brazier, 2019).

Advantages of F2F Interviews:

·      Formal & straightforward  

·      Confidential 

·      Can measure the problem-solving skills

·      Accuracy in screening so that Fraudulent applicant can be eliminated

·      Measure the comprehensive understanding 

·      Body language and facial expression are more clearly identified

·      Stimulus material and visual objects can be used

·      Sensory skills can be checked

·       Interview length can be considerably longer since the participant has a great commitment to participate

     (Opdenakker, 2006). 


Disadvantages of F2F Interviews:

·      Difficult to conduct during Pandemic disease era

·      Time consuming to conduct & recruit 

·      Interviewers may lead biased and subjective judgements to the interviewees 

·      Cost effective 

Globally, highest volume of organizations conducting F2F Interviews including e-commerce giant’s like amazon, In order to recruit a high quality & reliable Employees to their organization.

  2. According to xyz Engineering (pvt)company I'm totally agreed for F2F interview. I have an experience it was really attractive. During interview of technicians for dam construction project, foreign engineers interweavers examined their palms and fingers to gain insight in to there experience.

    1. Yes Sagara You are right here, XYZ Eng (Pvt) Ltd 100% of the selection methods are from F2F Interviews only Ex : we check WAH fobia to the direct workers in order to shortlist the candidate and its very effective in our organization.

  3. I am also agree with that f2f interviews are more effective. Sometimes there may be candidates who has completed all paper qualifications but unable to talk straight forward and problems having taking quick decisions. We are in a problem if we just look in to their paper qualifications. My personal opinion is, when promoting staff in banking sector, top management should give priority on candidates' experience, problem solving ability and decision making prior to their paper qualifications because we learn lot of things from day today life. Experience gained cannot compare with paper qualifications.

  4. Face to face interviews allow researchers to gather detailed information about attitudes and behaviors on a particular topic. Face to face interviews play a key role when recruiting an employee for an organization. But in my opinion it is a bit inappropriate because the person facing the situation may not be able to recognize the mental level, may have language issues, may be afraid to speak directly, may be afraid to express opinions directly. Therefore, when recruiting an employee for an organization, they should be given the opportunity to test their skills without giving special place to face-to-face interviews.

The opportunity for probing exists where the interviewer can get more detailed information about a particular response. A new comer for a interview F2F interview definitely give big boost to 1st up.

  7. F2F interviews are the most commonly used and much effective interview method where the interviewer can directly identify the qualities, capabilities of the person. Even at the pandemic periods, this could be done through the techsavy methods such as skype, msteams, zoom etc. However, sucsess of the same will be differed based on some external reasons such as connection issues, weather conditions, lack of knowledge etc.
